The holiday of Thanksgiving has a profound influence on Americans at this time of year, when we look to each other in the spirit of compassion for and with the human condition. The theological framework of compassion has at its core the idea that a religious faith centered on compassion focuses on passionate and loving action to alleviate mutual pain and suffering based on loyalty to a covenant. This theme also forms a discussion basis for our congregation’s desire to grow our efforts at becoming a multicultural spiritual home.
